These awards recognise the contribution of unsung and very often unseen heroes/heroines in our county who have given years of voluntary service to improve life for others in their areas. The service was held in the imposing chamber of the Town Hall, with its panelling and crests and lists of those who have been awarded high office for Cheshire over the years. They honoured 4 people, three men and a lady and read out declarations of their contributions. Joined by the Lord Mayor of Chester, Deputy Lord Lieutenant and myself as High Sheriff. A delicious tea was served downstairs in the large main hall by Horseradish and we were each asked to head a table.
