Installation of High Sheriff of Cheshire, Sarah Callander Beckett

Following the Declaration6 April 2017

The service took place in The Library of Combermere Abbey, recently restored and the incoming High Sheriff’s home. 74 people attended – family members, staff at Combermere, The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, Mr David Briggs; previous Cheshire High Sheriffs, Chaplain to the High Sheriff – Jane Parry, Vicar of St Paul with St Luke @ Tranmere, The Canon Precentor of Chester Cathedral representing The Bishop of Chester, the Under Sheriff Mr John Arnold, exiting High Sheriff Kathy Cowell as well as the two upcoming High Sheriffs of Cheshire.

The High Sheriff identified Crimebeat and Cheshire Community Foundation as the two charities she was supporting and her focus is on rural communities and their challenges as well as the vibrant and entrepreneurial spirit of rural businesses.
Lessons were read by Peregrine Beckett (son) and Peter Beckett (husband). Two arias sung by the High Sheriff’s step nephew Oliver Gerrish – Ombre Mai Fu and Eternal Source of Light Divine both by J S Handel and accompanied by Richard Walker on piano and Wendy Jones on trumpet.

Champagne and tea were served in the Porters Hall following the installation.
